The bereaved are often surprised surprised and bewildered when . they find themselves in the midst of a negative memory. They may feel guilty and mentally mentally berate themselves for even allowing such thoughts to surface. While we allow ourselves these critical thoughts about living persons, we often feel a reluctance to think ill of the dead. Some people try desperately desperately to repress such feeling; others can't and feel guilty. Neither response is particularly particularly healthy. It is wise to keep in mind that this is a normal part of grieving. We will remember the bad along with the good. Just as we may have failed the deceased deceased they probably failed us too. The ultimate reconciliation of ALL these memories is a major accomplishment of grief. Let it happen.
