Mrs. Lyle Reed and daughter, Jessica, Surrey, B.C., left on Monday evening evening for their home, after enjoying enjoying two weeks visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Tennant, Newton- ville and other relatives in area. Christmas Party Held in the Main Hall of Orono United Church with a delicious pot-luck dinner and a good representative attendance. Following the dinner, an enjoyable sing-along of Christmas carols took place, with Joyce Gray at the piano. Fine reports from the various units of their year's work and treasurer treasurer Doreen Wood had placed the financial report on the blackboard. Printed reports were handed out and discussed, and it was decided to set up a special "Renovation fund" for future future use in our church. The president gave several several Christmas readings and Stella Carson rendered a delightful solo "Bells of Christmas". We were happy to receive word that Mr. and Mrs. Roan Elford and family family will be coming to visit us early in the new year. Mr. Elford is the nephew of Mrs. Francis Sutton and he and his wife are directors of "Language Acquisition Program" of Northern Canada Canada Evangelical Mission. This was one of our "Live Love" projects several years ago. • Our 1987 slate still needs a secretary and an archivist so if anyone would care to volunteer, we would be glad to hear from them. Dec. 10 at8p.rn.in the Town Hall. Orono United Church News We thank the choir members members for their splendid Christmas decorations in the sanctuary. The very artistic artistic large Xmas cards were created by members of the youth group and added greatly to the overall appearance. Those cards were used in the Bowmanville Bowmanville Santa Claus Parade. Beautiful flowers from the Henry Cantrell funeral and large ; poinsettia from Orono Horticulture, and other plants in St. Saviour's and also Kirby United by Horticulture. The sacrament of Communion Communion was celebrated on Sunday morning and the Advent Candles were lit by members of Orono Guides and Brownies. Taking part in the service of lighting were readers Jamie Luke; Carla Werry. Helpers- Tanya Allin and Marsha Luke. Before the service commenced, commenced, a very enjoyable carol sing was enjoyed by everyone. During the service, service, the choir rendered "In Remembrance of Me". Remember our White Gift services next Sunday. This year, our mother is (size 14- 16); Father medium; boy- 2 years; Baby girl, 1 month. The "Share the Lord" envelopes envelopes in the bulletin this morning are to be used White Gift Sunday and help to buy extras for the family. Orono Horticulture Society Society . meets this week on Thursday at 8 p.m. in the Main Hall of the United Church. This will feature Clare Gunter showing slides and our always pretty Xmas show,.
