Good Effort Boys! TOROS VS. WOOLWICH This is one of the few teams to really beat the Toros this year. Woolwich play a hard, tough game and they seemed to take our kids by surprise, never letting letting the Toros get set. Even so, it was quite a game. Woolwich scored twice in the first period and that's the way it stayed until the 8:36 mark of the third period when the dam burst. There were 8 goals scored in the' third'period,'4 per team, and it was very good hockey. The Bowmanville Atom B Team had won their division and it meant on to the A Championship to face-off against a "AA" Minor team from Pickering. Our M.V.P. in the game against Brooklin was Chris McCarthy. Great work Chris! Finally the moment had come, it was time to play for the championship. Our boys were ready but so was Pickering. It was tense for both sides. Pickering, however, came away with the championship. It was no fault of the Bowmanville team, the effort was there in full speed but the luck wasn't. The score was 3-0. Our boys were not to be down as they had come up against a good team although our boys played excellent hockey it just wasn't to be. Our goalie Jamie Doyle received the M.V.P. for an outstanding game. Each boy on the Bowmanville team received a beautiful trophy as they had placed second. I want to add a very special thank you to our parents for being great fans. Also to our boys who may not have won but are champs anyways.
