The S.S. room was set up with small tables of five or six to a jlable and we could visit the ^buffet. table as often as we wished. HAYDON NEWS Section Two The Canadian Statesman, Bowmanville, December 22, 1986 13 Santa Goes for Rock and Roll at Lord Elgin Concert Ann and Carol hid a skit which was pretty close to reality-and had a meaningful devotional taken from gospels, "Matthew and Luke". We sang "0 Come All Ye Faithful and While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks". As Ann lit the candles, Carol read, "Three Lighted Candles" and closed with a prayer. On behalf of our members, Earla Bundle thanked the ladies for the lovely Christmas meeting. After a chat and catching up on gossip, Barb Walsh conducted an active game which was a sort of grab, give, grab, give - Gladys Potts ended up with both little gifts. Some discussion as to changing groups had often come up through the year, so a paper was passed around to commit yourself to one month in the year to getting the program and lunch organized. We drew names again this year for a Secret Pat and'Val passed around some tasty tid-bits. Kay Buttery had two readings. One was, "As I Remembered Christmas" and "The Santa Legend". It is based on the life of St. Nicholas, a bishop in the fourth century, who is said to have done some very unselfish deeds that brought happiness. Sarah Lloyd had a nice little poem. Then our rhythm band took over. With background music on the hi-fi and all of us getting in the act with anything and everything. Bev Cochrane had a real brain user contest and there weren't very many who had a perfect score. Barb Walsh handed out the gifts and before opening we each had to tell who we thought our secret pal was. It had been a well-guarded secret this year. Lunch time arrived and why no matter the time, day or night, are we always so ready to eat? Enjoyed by all, we ■ thanked our hostess with a small gift and bade Val and Dick a good evening. The actual cost to the corporation corporation was being funded by the provincial government government who would pay the costs once the agreement was settled.
