Teams from as far away as Welland and Mississauga participated in the event, which was sponsored by the Bowmanville Minor Hockey Association. "I'd like to thank the merchants merchants for their support too," said Joe Real, president president of the Bowmanville Minor Hockey Association. Yelverton Happenings 'On Friday evening, December December 19, it was our pleasure pleasure to be included in a surprise surprise "Welcome Home" party held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Graham in Liedsay in honour of Jo- Ann Graham's return for the holidays from Texas. Jo- Ann is on her second year scholarship in Texas at a University there where she plays ball during the spring and summer in the capacity of pitcher and D.H. (designated (designated hitter). She recently received an All-American plaque in recognition of her prowess as a player, quite an honour for a Canuck. A rollicking good evening was enjoyed by all present in socializing and listening to an endless variety of musical tapes leaning towards the "straight" direction George Strait that is. Due to the unleashed exuberance of those present, specially "Teddy" "Le-anne" - the party was at times more like a squirrel cage than a church social - a pleasant change.
