Their work not only adds to the store of human knowledge, it can also have important Implications for those living In modern society. While the death rites of most primitive peoples would be unacceptable In communities in this country, we can see how their ceremonies serve much the same purpose as our own funeral services. Just as marriages, births, comings of age were celebrated by the community, so was death. It was not an event for one person, or even one family, to take on alone. Expressing grief, sharing grief, somehow helped the mourners to accept their loss. They could feel the support of the community, see that others respected and identified with their experience. The primitive funeral rite also sought to dispell the-horror and fear of death, to give it significance with respect to life. Mr. and Mrs. Steve (Lynne) Liptay attended the wedding ceremony and reception of Miss Lisa Zoelman and Mr. Hanc Mulder at Newcastle on Saturday. Recently Mrs. Cindy Millson and Adam attended the Christmas concert at Enniskillen. Last Saturday, Steve and Cindy Millson and sons visited with Mr. and Mrs. Blair (Marilyn) Vaneyk and family and enjoyed their visit with Mr. and Mrs. John (Sharon) Schoonderbeek and daughter who were also at the Vaneyk's. On Boxing Day the family joined in a Bonspiel at the Annadell Arena where the aunts and uncles introduced Larry and Barb to curling. On Saturday, the Walsh's all went to Chesley to Dr. Greg Walsh's home and got rather involved in a hockey game and went curling at night. Needless Needless to say, Sunday meant a day of rest and Larry and family returned home on Monday. Misses Cindy and Kathy Cochrane spent four days with Gramma Cochrane in Peterboro before Christmas so dad and mom, Brent and Bev, could celebrate their tenth wedding anniversary and dinner out.
