Rubbish fire. William Lloyd Snowden Following a short illness, William Lloyd Snowden died in Memorial Hospital, Bowmanville, Saturday, November 29, 1986, in his 90th year. Born in Bowmanville and educated at Maple Grove, he was the son of the late Samuel and Minnie (Allin) Snowden. He was married in 1923 to the late Bessie Crago, and in 1938 to Audrey Audrey Cowling. A self-employed market gardener, he had resided in Maple Grove from birth until 1960, and from 1973 at 6 St. George St., Bowrnan- ville. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church, Bowmanville, Bowmanville, and a former member of Maple Grove United Church where he served as treasurer for many years and was a representative representative to the Bay of Quinte Conference. During the first World War he served in the army in England. England. He was a member of the Golden Years Club. Since retiring in 1973 he regularly visited senior citizens citizens in nursing homes in Newcastle, Bowmanville, Oshawa and Whitby, and at Memorial Hospital, entertaining entertaining them with tapes and records. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. Surviving are his wife, Audrey; a daughter, Dorothy Ewing; a son, Bert Snowden; daughters Greta Down, Lorraine Pettit, Gail Pickard and Betty Lou Baker; 26 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Lillian Lewis; a son, Reverend Stanley Snowden; and a grandson, James Lewis. The Reverend N. E. Schamerhorn officiated at the funeral service held on Tuesday, at the Morris Funeral Funeral Chapel, Bowmanville. Pallbearers were Randy Snowden, David Ewing, ■Paul Down, Scott Down, Peter Snowden and Michael Conway.
