January 7.1987 5 OBITUARY Lawrence Alexander (Mac) MacDougal A well known and highly respected citizen of the area Lawrence Alexander (Mac) MacDougal, aged 75, died in Oshawa General Hospital, Wednesday, December 17, 1986 following an illness of two weeks. Born and educated in Lanark County, he was the son of the late John and Jennie McDougall. He was married October 7, 1932, to Verna Gladys Douglas. Mac, as he was widely known, had apprenticed as a newspaper printer in Lanark at the Era, and was also employed at the Toronto Star in Sudbury, at Tweed for 17 years, at Wingham four years, and at The Canadian Statesman 26 years for a total of 48 years, retiring 10 years ago. He had resided in Bowmanville 36 years, Tweed 17 years and Wingham, four years. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. for 54 years and held many offices in the Lodge. He was a member of Trinity United Church where he was a very willing worker on different committees. Friends and neighbors could always count on him for help. Left to mourn his passing are his wife Verna, sons Lowell and Gary, sisters Anna (Mrs. Donald Cameron), Balderson, Mary (Mrs. Joseph Tennant) Almonte, Margaret of Kingston, and four granddaughters. The Reverend A. Fisher arid H the Reverend A. Amacher officiated at the complete, funeral services held on Friday, at the Morris Funeral Chapel, Bowmanville. Mrs." J. A large number of family and friends attended the happy occasion and spent a most delightful time reminiscing with Laverne and Iona about memorable events in their lives. It is the hope of all of us that this much-loved couple will celebrate many more happy and blessed Anniversaries in our midst. Hydro Atom Finalists Jamie Sellers, Kevin Col- bourne and David Mills. This win advanced the team to the "A" division finals. On Tuesday, Hydro played in the "A" finals against Kingsview. The Hydro boys played hard but were defeated 5 : 3. Scoring for the Hydro Atoms were Jason Wichman with two goals and Kevin Colbourne with - one goal.- Jason Wichman was awarded his team's MVP for the game.
