The game was a non-contact affair since the CYO rules prohibit bodily contact and although the game was an exhibition contest for Kool the results counted toward league standings for St. Gert's. Kool quickly jumped into the lead when Bryan James floated a shot in from the blue line and into the net after just 28 seconds of play. Steve Bizi earned an assist on Bryan's goal and five minutes later scored one himself assisted by Richard Smit and Steve Kay. Four minutes later, Richard MacCheyne gave Kool a 3-0 lead when he converted passes from Kevin Jay and Billy MacIntyre. Kevin and Billy combined less than a minute later to set up Andrew Day whose hard shot found the top corner. Dave Killens, who had an easy first period, was called on to make several saves in the second and third, stopping several breakaways before an Oshawa player finally got one behind him. Bryan James finished the game as he had started it by scoring with 28 seconds remaining. The goal was the result of a give and go play between himself and Steve Bizi which put him in home free and his good move beat the goaltender and almost himself when he was forced to recover the errant puck and slide it into the net. Macintosh opened the scoring with two goals. Bob Deblois got one back, assisted: by Siegi Rohr and Ray Crombie. Bob Marjerrison then tied the score on a perfect set-up from George Sainsbury. Macintosh made the score 3-2 before Grant Wright, who had pinched in from the point, fired a perfect, low shot just inside the post. Ron Rushak then scored the winner on passes from Deblois and Rohr, David Green scored the insurance goal assisted by Barry Oliver and Ron Clemens. Art Hester, our goaltender, who played well all day, was superb in the second game which we lost to Marigold Motors 2-1. Bob Deblois scored our only goal in this encounter. , In the final game for the "B" championship we met the Newcastle B & F Peelers. McGarvey scored the first goal assisted by McManus and Fever. Shields put the Peelers ahead 2-0 with assists going to Hansen and Robinson. For the second time in the day we were challenged by a two goal deficit and again we rose to the occasion. Bob Deblois took a pass from Neale McLean at centre and raced down the right boards. He then fired a perfect backhand along the ice that found the net on the goaltender's short side. David Green made the score 2-2 with assits to Warren Townsley and Bob Marjerrison. Bob Hellam set Majerrison up for the go ahead goal. Lavell next, evened the score . for the Peelers, on a pass from McGarvey, with only three minutes left in the game. In the sudden death overtime that followed, Bob Deblois again rose to the occasion and proved to be the hero of the day. Roger Shingler got the puck 1 up to Ron Clemens who then passed to Bob breaking in on his back-hand and Bob fired the puck to the long side just inside the post. This was a clever move since he already had beaten the same goaltender with a back-hand to the short side earlier in the contest. Bob was voted the Most Valuable Player for our team in the tournament. French Fries i/ 2 Price ■'r."
