Our leader took some of our crafts for display at the O.H.A. District show in Omemee. Mr. VanCamp from the Bowmanville Gladiolus Society donated glad bulbs to our club. We will be planting the Library bed and Fire Station beds later on in May. Next meeting Saturday, May 16 at 2 o'clock. We will be getting seeds for our gardens. Donna Sutherland Newtonville , Mrs. Sharon Buttery, Olive Henderson, Madeleine Buckley, Elizabeth Skelding and Miss Bernice Milligan were among the Women's Institute members who attended attended the District Annual meeting at Kendal on Thursday. Thursday. Our members presented the Memorial Service and Marjorie Caswell sang accompanied by Marie Allin and were praised for their part. Twenty-five ladies of the Newtonville Bowling League enjoyed their annual banquet at the Marina in Bowmanville last Thursday evening. After the meal, the business took place with president Pat Osborne. The new executive will be President Linda Adams, Treasurer - Jean Fallis, Secretary - Cathy Adams, Captains - Sandra McAleese, Blanche Jones, Joan Argue and Karen McAleese. Presentation of trophies: 1st place - Chimps, 2nd - Gorillas, 3rd - Orangutans, Orangutans, 4th - Baboons, Play-off champs - Chimps. High average 198 - Pat Millson, High triple 776 - Cindy Millson. High single - Sandra McAleese with a score of 344. Other 300 games by Cathy Adams, Cindy Millson and Linda Adams. Most improved player - Jean O'Neill. Other 700 games (triple): Bernice Henderson, Pat Millson, Joan Argue, Cathy Adams and Lois Walker. Present each evening included Peggy Millson, Pat Millson, Lois Walker and Dian Sciuk. The remainder of the evening was spent playing Court Whist. Winners were Olive Henderson, Cindy Millson, Jean Fallis and Carol Oke. Bowling will begin again this fall on September 10th. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Barnoski, Mr, and Mrs. Jack Ogden, Mr. and Mrs. Jim English, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Stapleton and Mr. and Mrs. Trueman Henderson were among those who attended the Orono Masonic Ladies Dinner and entertainment held Saturday evening at the Orono Community Community Centre Arena. Mr, and Mrs. Reid Wood visited Saturday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Albert Wood of Oshawa. Mr. and Mrs. Duane Chrysler spent the weekend in Niagara Falls. Mr. Bert Tompkins is a patient in the Extensive Care Unit in Bowmanville Hospital and Mrs. Mary O'Neill is a patient in Port Hope Hospital. Mrs. Emma Ruthven and Bernice Henderson attended the Reception for Mrs. Audrey Martin of Bowmanville, held at the Blackstock Community Centre. i ..Card party winners Friday evening held at the Hall were Lillian Griffin 85, Inez Boughen 84, Gladys Dines 81, Pearl Clarke 79, Tina Griffin 77, Florence Roberts 73. The 50-50 draw was won by Mrs. Dickson. There were 14 and one-half tables in play. Next card party will be on May 22nd. Mr. Clarence Gilmer of Cameron was a caller on Thursday with Mr. and Mrs. Don Vinkle. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Heard of Peterborough visited Mr. and Mrs. Fred Henderson on Saturday afternoon. Mr, and Mrs. C. R. Farrow with Mr. Reg Falls visited on Sunday with Mr. Orville Falls at Peterborough. Mr. and Mrs, Ray Soules of Toronto visited Mr. and Mrs. Jack Elliott Friday and Saturday. Mr, Jack Kimball and Mrs. Jean Kimball were the greeters for church on Sunday. Family Day, Broyce Wesley Stephen and Stephanie Kimber Rose, children of Steve and Kimberley Jackson were baptized by Rev. Ransom. He then presented a Puppet Show which was enjoyed by the Sunday School pupils. The choir sang "O Love of Mother." Mr. and Mrs. Don Vinkle were luncheon guests on Sunday with Mr, and Mrs. Bill Clarke of Bethany. Mr, and Mrs. Fred Henderson attended the Telephone Pioneer Dinner on Wednesday at Cobourg Motor Inn.
