Laurie Van Dyk was hired as part of a student employment program and will be extremely busy all summer. Laurie's duties will involve organizing museum special events, fund-raising, advertising, and even a turn as tour guide. Her outgoing personality and smile will be a welcome asset to the musuem. There is a bright new face at the Bowmanville Museum this summer Laurie Van Dyk, a lifelong resident of Bowmanville, Bowmanville, has recently been hired as Curatorial Assistant. Assistant. "I'm a people person," says Laurie, and with her summer job she will certainly certainly get a chance to prove it. Laurie, who was hired through a provincially- funded employment program, program, will be involved in fund-raising activities, special events at the museum, advertising, marketing, marketing, and plenty of public relations. With her first year of studies in communications at Brock University, St. Catharines, completed, Laurie is a definite asset to the museum. , After hearing about the job, from the Student Employment Employment Centre, Laurie sent in her resume, and was interviewed by three members members of the museum Board of Directors. With her outgoing and hard-working attitude, Laurie's long-term goal is to be the first female prime minister of Canada. No stranger to the museum, Laurie lived close by the Bowmanville Museum until several years ago. "I've brought relatives for tours, and always watched the activities going on," said Laurie. Now she can experience helping to promote the museum. She will be at the Oshawa Mall later this week manning an information booth. Throughout the course of the summer she will be contacting various them first hand. When she eventually does reach her dream of 22 Sussex Drive, maybe she can attribute part of it to lier summer spent working at the Bowmanville Bowmanville Museum.
