Sudsbury of Bowmanville. Maid of honour was Judy Sudsbury. Bridesmaids were Heather Sentf from Sask., sister of the bride, and Cheryl Irvin. Junior bridesmaid was Oner Living and flowergirl was Nicole Sudsbury. Best man was Brian Sudsbury. A stop at a shopping mall was also enjoyed. The return home was delayed by a flat tire on 401 - not a pleasant experience experience but all arrived home safely safely later than expected. The theme of the camp was "Space." Space shop races were one of the events that attracted much attention. Balloons were released to see how far they would travel. The Scugog Pack won the prize for the best group. Quite a number camped overnight. Blackstock and District Lions Club held a successful Flea Market at the Arena on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, Gerald, Joyce, Elizabeth, Elaine and Esther Kelly were guests of the Dean of Nursing at the Pinning Ceremony of the Graduation of the 1967 Class of Nursing Nursing at Queen's University. During the ceremony the Nursing Science Society presented an annual Eleanor Kelly Memorial Award to a graduating student who possesses 1 some of the qualities that endeared Eleanor to her peers. Following the ceremony the Kelly family were luncheon guests of the nursing professors. professors. All in all it was a very memorable day for us all. Meeting The May meeting of Eldad U.C.W. was opened by the president, Dorreen Westlake. Lois Ycllowlees read a letter from Hon. Allan Lawrence, M.P., in reply to her letter regarding the new refugee restrictions. Dorothy Snowden led the worship service. Donna Johnston and Dorothy Snowden presented a narration on the Lord's Prayer, which was enlightening enlightening to us all. Billings and Mrs. Dorothy Bailey attended the Queen Street United Church service on Sunday, May 24, to witness the Confirmation class of seven young people, join the church. Mrs. Bailey's grandson, Warren Kimmett, was one of the class members and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Kimmett, Lindsay. Weekend guests at Challices included Mr. and Mrs. Dean Warren, Peterborough, Mr. and Mrs. M. Chili - Choo Cookoff Despite the gloomy weather, there was a good attendance at all events, and Central School All the primary classes at Central Public School went to the Metro Toronto Zoo on Tuesday, May 12th. We went by two buses and we saw zebras, a hippopotamus, a turtle, a polar bear and grizzly bear. My favorite animals were the elephants. Their tusks were small but their bodies were huge. Bradley liked the monkey who swung around a lot. The girafes just stood there and had to fold their legs in order to sit down. The monorail was a quick way to see lots of animals. That was the last thing we did. Some of us had a chance to buy a souvenir. I hope we have a chance to go back again. Holly McGregor Bradley-Humber Open House at Central Open House for Central School was fun. We said a poem, danced a square dance and sang a song called "Path to the Moon." Grade One and Two did a Dinosaur dance and song. Tyrannosaurus Rex is my favorite dinosaur. Holly MacGregoj Andrew Crossen Bradley Humber the best crowd ever on a Sunday! A record-breaking attendance at the Saturday night dance in the arena. In speaking to Mac Ransberry recently, he reports the authorities were amazed at our facilities in general and thrilled with the available spaces for games, etc. This was truly a family event and entire families found something something to enjoy! Many visitors from U.S.A. and one group of 28 flew in to Toronto, to attend this special event. Many pleasing comments as to the beauty of our fair grounds, and especially especially to view the large herds of cattle (Moffat's farm) across the busy highway. One American was heard to remark, "Just like home in Texas." Excellent amateur entertainment entertainment for the Talent Contest on Sunday afternoon and this was pronounced, the most entries for this particular particular event. Mr. and Mrs. Orville Chatterton, Mr. and Mrs. David Chatterton and Mr. and Mrs. Hank Sokolyuk, Bethany, enjoyed the past weekend at the cottage of Mrs. Queen Taylor at Caledon Lake. Mrs. Kay Beggs, Pontypool, was a Monday luncheon guest of Mrs. Edith Taylor. Many out of town guests were at the Deveaux - Benedict wedding in St. Gregory's Catholic Church, Oshawa, on Saturday. Mrs. Winifred Daley, P.E.I., the groom's grandmother, and Aunt Isabelle and cousin, all from P.E.I. The bride's aunt and uncle, John and Jenny Coombs, Lindsay, and cousins Mary and Dan, Tom and Patty, were all from Lindsay. TED DE JAGER Ted De Jager graduated May 15 from Royal Military College at Kingston with a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and the rank of Second Lieutenant in the Canadian Armed Forces. Ted is the son of Rev. and Mrs. Anthony De Jager and a graduate of Knox Christian School and Durham Christian High School at Bowmanville.
