Recent dinner guests with Mr. and Mrs. Llew Hallowell were Mr. Jack Walker of Toronto, Mr. Orme Falls and Harvey of Bowmanville and Mrs. Brian Caswell. Last Thursday, Mrs. Isabelle Trim attended the Rebekah Lodge Past Noble Grands pot luck supper held at the home of Mrs. Lola Kennedy, Orono. Mr. and Mrs. John Windatt visited last Sunday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Gary Higgins. On Monday evening, Mr. and Mrs. Brenton Farrow visited with Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Bamsey and family for their annual fireworks display. On Wednesday morning, Mrs. Bev Higgins, Mary, Sarah and Maia attended the children's play group held at the home of Mrs. Patti Hutchinson in Newtonville. Mrs. Martha Farrow attended attended the pot luck luncheon on Wednesday for the Bible Study groups of both Kirby and Orono United churches. Mr. Milton Wannan of Kirby visited Wednesday afternoon with his nephew Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Souch. Mrs. Isabelle Trim and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Todd with the Newcastle Senior Citizens enjoyed a bus trip last Tuesday and Wednesday to Ottawa and area. They visited the War Memorial and saw the residences of the Governor General, Prime Minister and several Ambassadors. Mrs. Mary-Lou Fonk and Peter, and Mrs. Edna Dobson spent last week in Sundridge while Cliff enjoyed a fishing trip into Northern Quebec, On Wednesday afternoon, Mr. and Mrs. Stan Falls of Toronto visited with Mr. and Mrs. Llew Hallowell. Mr. Brenton Farrow visited Wednesday evening with Mr. Jim Stark. Miss Janelle Andrews was a luncheon guest on Thursday of Mrs. Bev Higgins, Mary, Sarah and Maia. On Thursday noon, Mrs. Martha Farrow attended a luncheon and baby shower in honor of Mrs. Janet Rutherford Rutherford and new baby daughter, Stephanie Anne, of Kirby, held at the home of Mrs. Rosalyn Allin and hosted by Mrs. Linda Di Bartolomeo, Mrs. Margaret Henderson and Rosalyn. Meeting On Wednesday evening, May 20th, Shiloh U.C.W. met at the home of Mrs. Sandra Goorbarry with 15 members present. President Sherrill Souch opened the meeting by thanking Sandra for her home and introducing Mr. Ron Phillips of Newtonville. He explained he was sorry for the misunderstanding in connection connection with the Reverend's beard shaving. The devotional and psalm were read by Gloria Todd and prayer by Mary Caswell. The hymn "For the Beauty of the Earth" was sung by everyone. Sandra Goorbarry gave the secretary's report and many letters were discussed. It was decided to paint the outside of the church. A card party and draw will be held at Shiloh United on Saturday, October 17th.
