On Tuesday, June 16, in Ajax, the girls defeated Dixon Printing by the score of 8-0. On Thursday, June 18, again in Ajax, they defeated Burns-Morston 4 - 0. The girls went to the game on Tuesday knowing they would be playing below strength, with several players having previous commitments. commitments. As it turned out, Graham's had only nine players at the game and as the score indicates they played very well indeed. Five different different players shared in the scoring honors, Sarah Couch - two goals, Tracy Michaud - two goals, Carolyn Watters - two goals, Sharon McAleese - one goal, and Kim Bates one goal. The shutout was a tribute tribute to the defense as the goalkeepers Kim Bates and way for our brand new Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, next door to the former Mrs. Mary Morris' house. Mr. and Mrs. Carlos Tamblyn spent the past weekend at their cottage at Lake Catchacoma. Kathy Clements did not touch the ball the entire game. The Defense and Midfielders who kept Ajax out of our end were Carolyn Watters, Alyssa McLennan, Kari Houll and Elizabeth Wunderlich. For much of the game the players familiarized themselves with different positions and did a very good job of learning them. The game on Thursday was approached with caution as the girls were aware that this Ajax team had previously lost only one game. Once again Graham's dominated the play, allowing Ajax only one or two chances at our goal. This was a complete team effort with Sarah again leading the scoring, this time with three goals and Elizabeth Wunderlich Wunderlich scoring the other one. Their goals and the shutout were the result of the players playing together as a team. Strong games were played by Carolyn Watters and Tammy Boyer on Defense, Sharon McAleese, Sarah Couch, Kathy Clements and Christine Kiely at Midfield, and Elizabeth Wunderlich, Kari Hoult, Jessica Knoop, Jessica Hull, Kim Bales and Tracy Michaud at Forward. Kim and Carolyn shared this shutout. Next week Graham's IGA is at home for two games.
