i l 16 The Canadian Statesman, Bowmanville, August 12, 1987 Crime Stoppers Crime Stoppers and the Durham Regional Police are asking for the public's help in solving an assault which occurred in Oshawa on June 22nd this year. At about 6:55 p.m. a man was walking through the lobby of the Genosha Hotel when he was punched in the face. He fell down and struck his head causing a fractured skull. He was later found to have a memory loss and a speech impediment. The wanted person is a white male, 6 ft., 200 lbs., brown hair, moustache and beard. He was wearing faded torn blue jeans, blue jean jacket and a large brown full brim hat with a colored band and a feather. He had been seen at the Hotel on previous occasions. • Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of this person. Similar rewards will be paid for information leading to an arrest in any serious crime. All calls are treated confidentially. You will be given a code number to identify yourself and therefore you will never be required to go to court. The Crime Stoppers office is open from 8 a.m. - 10 p.m., Monday to Friday and the numbers are: 1-222-8477; 1-800-387-8477 Free from any phone, including pay phones. Sgt. Sandy Ryrie coordinates coordinates the Crime Stoppers Program within the Region of Durham. A Citizen Board administers the Program of which there are now nearly 700 in North America. The reward money is raised through Tax Deductible Deductible donations which may be sent to Toronto and Regional Crime Stoppers (Durham), P.O. Box 54, Oshawa, Ontario L1H7K8. Elizabeth ville [Intended for last week] On Thursday, the seniors met for the pot luck dinner to celebrate July birthdays. Euchre and U.N.O. was played. Leta McAllister, Edna Morris and Vern Thurtle won the uchre prizes and Berneice Wheeler won U.N.O. Those celebrating birthdays were Mr, and Mrs. Bill Dean, Mildred Elliott and Orville Woodley. Church services were held at the Ganaraska Woods farm. Dr. Sneyd was our speaker. We braved the weather and sat outside for part of the service, but the rain was the winner and we filed into the meeting room and continued. •Outside, we had the opening service and the scripture read from Isaiah 64 and 1 Corinthians Corinthians 2. After entering the house, we had Mrs. Julie Robinson sing a song with the guitar. Dr. Sneyd brought a very interesting sermon with humorous stories on the will of God, Collection was taken up by Howard Quantrill and E. Watkins. Next Sunday, our Service will be at Mr. and Mrs. A. Peters with Rev. Sedgwick. Coffee and cold drinks were served by the A.O.T.S. and Garden Hill Unit I supplied the fruit bread. We had the lunch in the banquet room next to the kitchen. A very good crowd attended. Mr. and Mrs. Ken Trew had Mr. and Mrs. J. Peacock and Vera Peacock, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Peacock and family and Mark Peacock on Thursday Thursday for tea. . Mrs. Stuart Campbell is spending a few days with her mother, Mrs. McCleary, Warkwoth. Mr. and Mrs. H. Quantrill spent Sunday afternoon with John and family who have moved into their new home, Mrs. Ross Beatty had tea Sunday evening with the Austins. , . , ' Mrs. Mary Trew was with Mrs. Beatty on Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. H. White had Wendy and her friend on the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. J. Peacock and Vera were at Mr and Mrs. Herbert Lee's cottage at Bridgewick on Sunday. Keith and Helen Wood, Kendal, visited at Peacock's recently.
