Traffic Light Fight Continues David Piper isn't prepared prepared to give up the battle for traffic lights at the corner of Liberty St. and Baseline Road in Bowman- ville. Even though the Ministry ofTransportation and Communication Communication (MTC) has said that the accident statistics don't show the need for lights, the sixteen-year-old Bowmanville resident will continue to fight. "I don't like losing," said David. But, it is more than that he says. "I don't think it's a good idea just to let it go," he said. David says that he will collect another 100 names on a petition to. be presented presented to town council in' the fall. He originally appeared before town council on June 22 to present a petition of 80 names and his concerns concerns about the corner. Because Because the issue of traffic lights falls under the Ministry Ministry of Transportation and Communication's jurisdiction, jurisdiction, David's letter was sent to them. Council received word several weeks ago that lights were not necessary at the corner. At their last meeting before summer recess, council voted to continue continue to be fn touch with MTC about the corner, saying saying that a proposed apartment apartment building at the corner would only add to the traffic and chance of accident. David says that an accident accident he witnessed earlier last week at the corner proves the real need for traffic lights.
