8 The Canadian Statesman. Bowmanville, August 12, 1987 Pontypool District Happenings WESLEYVILLE and DISTRICT By Nettle Aiken To start this column off, I would like to give credit where credit is due. Folks, the tiered response system really does work. Your correspondent needed it on Friday evening, July 31st. The Firefighters' Association responded within five minutes of the call and the Lindsay Ambulance in 20 minutes. Oxygen was started by the Firefighters, hooked up with the Ambulance supply and then transferred to St. Joseph's Hospital Emergency Room. Altogether, about two and a half hours of non-stop oxygen supply, until easy breathing was restored. The whole point of this account is to reassure my neighbors and friends not to hesitate in an emergency of a medical nature to call "277-2121." This holds good for the whole Township Township of Manvers, Janetville and Bethany as well as Ponty- pool. Ann Holtby and Margaret V/right spent six days recently at Deer Lodge, Haliburton. The holiday was enjoyed by both. May Mitchell from Peterborough Peterborough is spending a few days at time of writing with Margaret Wright. Barrowclough In spite of the slight shower of rain on Sunday morning, members of the congregation of the Hope charge of the United Church gathered at the Ganaraska Woods Centre for worship. The first part was conducted outside but signs pointed to damper conditions, so all moved inside the main building and in the comfort of dry surroundings finished the service. As usual, a happy experience with all delighting in the gentle rain so badly needed.
