Our new President Jackie Vaneyk opened the meeting with a reading "Religion followed followed by Prayer". Secretary Elsie Roy read the minutes and had them approved. Treasurer Carol Southwell gave her report and the Correspondence Correspondence was read. Catering for Sept. 6th/87 was mentioned and The Craft Sale of November 28, and we were asked if we were interested in doing a bake table to raise money for church funds. This will be discussed more at the October October meeting. A catering on June 4/88 was discussed with Marion Hoar moved we do it and Betty Pascoe seconded the motion. September 20th the UCW ladies helped with the church services for the twenty twenty - fifth Waterloo Conference Conference Anniversary. - A coffee hour followed. Installation of officers was included in the services. A discussion of having our meetings for January, February February and March in the afternoons. afternoons. We will discuss this further at the October meeting. The Regional meeting will be held October 27 and 28th at the Zion United church. There will be a pancake supper on October 4th and Mr. Wes Hills will show slides on Israel. The offering was received. Rev. Ruth McKinell took the devotional with the theme being "Molded as Pottery." Pottery." Ruth accompanied herself on the guitar and sang "Abba Father". She closed the devotional with the "Popcorn Prayer". We all joined hands and added added a sentence to the prayer. Jackie announced we will be closing our meeting with the Roll Call. Next month will be "What we are thankful for". We joined together for tea and cookies and did the Roll Call. "What we did for summer holidays" - Some worked in gardens, some camped and some had extended trips. The October meeting will be on 14th, 7:30 p.m. with the group being Elsie Roy and Edna Wood. Guest speaker will be Nancy Lee from "Big Sisters" Ladies and young girls of our area are invited. Peterborough Presbyterial Fall Meeting The Fall Rally of Peterborough Peterborough Presbyterial W.M.S, learned how mission can happen as they listened to the Rev. Robert and Mrs. Pricilla Anderson of Scarborough Scarborough describe their work with the Korean Christian Church in Japan. They spent 20 years in Japan working mainly with the Koreans but also trying in every way possible possible to unite the Korean and Japanese people. The Kindergartens and church run homes for seniors seniors are for both cultures. Many changes have taken place during those twenty years. The Koreans are becoming becoming proud of their culture culture and no longer try to appear appear as Japanese. St. Andrew's Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Warkworth hosted the Fall Rally of the Peterborough Presbyterial Women's Missionary Missionary Society on Wed. , Sept. 23. Mrs. Jackie Kelly and Mrs. Faye MacMillan started the evening with a lively gospel sing song. President Mrs. Audrey Jeffery Jeffery called the meeting to order order and led in prayer. The worship was given by the Marcel Good group from Cobourg and six ladies from Warkworth sang a beautiful anthem The Lord's my Shepherd. Mrs. James Ballard very capably introduced our guest speakers. Mr. and Mrs. Anderson showed slides and many artifacts of the Korean and Japanese people. Their enthusiasm and dedication were an inspiration to all. They were thanked by Mrs. Holly Hall.
