\ i l Ï 20 The Canadian Statesman, Obituaries HOWARD FORDER Funeral services were held on Tuesday, October20 for well known and respected respected businessman Howard Howard Forder who died suddenly suddenly on Saturday morning at his home in Port Perry. Mr. Forder, 61, owned and operated a successful real estate business (Howard Forder Realtor) in Port Perry, a business he started in 1972. Born in Blackstock, Mi - . Forder farmed in that area for about 15 years before going into real estate, first with an Oshawa firm and later as the manager of Walter Walter Frank Realty office in Port Perry until 1972 when he formed his own company. company. Mr. Forder worked hard in the real estate business and built a solid reputation in the community for his integrity integrity and dedication to this profession. Over the years, he served on several committees with the Oshawa and District Real Estate Board. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Port Perry, active in the Port Perry Curling Club and was an elder in the Port Perry United Church. Mr. Forder rested at the Church for visitation on Sunday and Monday prior to the funeral service Tuesday Tuesday morning, which was followed followed by a private family service at Pine Grove Cemetery in Prince Albert. Mr. Forder is survived by his wife Dorothy, who worked with him in the real estate business, and by four children, Brenda Marie, Brian, Brad and Leslie Fay. His mother, Mrs. Charolette Byers, lives in Bowman- ville. Mr. Forder has two brothers, Don and Harold, both of Port Perry, and three sisters, Lucille of Bowmanville, Marilyn of Orono and Donna of London, London, Ontario. MELVILLE A. SLEEP A member of Trinity United Church, Melville Arnold Arnold Sleep died at Memorial Memorial Hospital, Bowmanville on Thursday, August 27, 1897 alter an illness of three months. Mr. Sleep was 87 years old.. Mr. Sleep was born in Bethel, the son of Oliver Sleep and Martha Ann Moon and was educated in Seagrave. Married to Lillian Luella Wray, on March 12,1921, the couple lived on Liberty Street in Bowmanville for 53 years. In 1946 Melville Sleep built the North End Market on Liberty Street North and with his wife Lillian, was a grocer there until 1968. During During this time he was also employed employed by GM for approximately approximately 22 years. Mr. Sleep was a life-long hockey fan, supporting all levels of the sport, especially especially c the Bowmanville Eagles. He is survived by his wife Lillian Sleep and sons Arnold Arnold of Bowmanville, Douglas Douglas of Blackstock, and three daughters. Bernice Puk of Bowmanville, Lurana Harvey Harvey of Cobourg and Joan Sleep who lives at home; a sister, Reta Boe of Port Pez - ry, a half-brother Wilbert Wilbert Couch of Sunderland, and 13 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. The funeral services, held at Morris Funeral Chapel, were conducted by Reverend Frank Lockhart. The pallbearers, all Mr. Sleep's grandsons, were Bob Sleep, David Puk, Tom Puk, Clinton Sleep, Ron Harvey, Doug Sleep, Ted Puk and Brian Sleep. Floral tokens were received received from General Motors, North End Market staff, K-40 Club of Bowmanville, Bowmanville, Ladies Auxiliary, Arc Industries of Oshawa.
