There is an entry fee, and prizes for the winners. There were 15 tables of euchre in play at the Community Community Centre on Friday, October 16th, with following following results. The men were clearly in fine playing form: first Art Sheehan, Toros Midgets Host Port Hope On October 18 the Halmin- en Homes Toro Midgets hosted Port Hope for tneir first league game of the 1987-88 season. The Toros got on the scoreboard at the 10:27 mark of the first period and there was no looking back, as they went on to score 27 more goals, shutting out Port Hope 28-0. Seven goals were scored in the first, four in the second and seventeen seventeen in the third period. Bowmanville had 76 shots on goal and goalie Darrin Bunker stopped 12 Port Hope shots, getting the Toro shutout. The goals and assists are too numerouts to mention in detail, but every player on the team got on the score- sheet by getting at least 1 goal or an assist. Eight pre-season games were played bythe Halmin- en Midgets in which 4 were won, 3 lost and 1 tied. This year's team consists of Darrin Bunker, Steve Smith, Shane Armstrong, Britt Cole, Neil Taylor, Zenon Nelson, Tony VanHoof, Dean Baum- hauer, Rob Real, Mark Tripp, Greg Goode, Brad Carnegie, Guv Freeman, Troy Harness, Nick Dennis, Greg Healey, Gareth Stone, Burke Lush, Coach Brian Taylor, Assistant Coach Stu Tripp and Manager Joe Real. Ovenden, celebrated their 60th wedding wedding anniversary on Sent. 12,1987 with Open House at their home R.R.#1 Bowmanville, Bowmanville, Ontario. On Sept. 17, 1927 Alfred Ovenden and Margaret Stope, were united in marriage marriage in the old English Church, Oshawa. They resided resided in Oshawa for 42 years, where Alfred was employed employed by General Motors of Canada. He retired in 1969 after 51 1/2 years of faithful service to tne company. It was then that they decided to move to the quiet countryside countryside in the Hampton area, R.R.#1 Bowmanville, where they enjoy their garden, family and friends.
