The Hampton Women's Institute ladies met in the C.E. wing of the church Tuesday, October 6 at 1:30. They were joined by Institute Institute members .from Blackstock and Newton- ville. Grace Chant opened the meeting and welcomed everyone. Following the opening with Institute Ode and Mary Stewart Collect, Grace read a poem and gave some household hints. Verna Robinson read the minutes of the last meeting and gave the treasurer's report. Barbara Barbara Macklin gave a report on a meeting she attended regarding the Fun Fair. The Fun Fair will be held at Sol- ina Hall October 21st beginning beginning at 2:00. The consumer report was given by MargHall on Chimney Chimney Safety. She told us how and why chimneys should be checked annually. Faulty chimneys have caused deaths. The motto titled titled "Potato Skins" was given by Marion Lewis. Marg Hall and Marion Lewis gave a demonstration on "Cooking with Carrots" beginning with a discussion on the many vitamins found in carrots and how eating them affects our health. Marion demonstrated carrot carrot tarts. Then, while they cooked, Marg made a cheese and carrot parsley spread and carrot and pineapple juice. Then came lunch which was also made up of carrot recipes. There was the cheese carrot spread on crackers, carrot muffins, marmalade made carrots, tarts, carrot cake, etc. All were delicious. All ladies attending received received a recipe on "Cooking with Carrots". Grace Chant closed the meeting with the Lord's Prayer.
