They captured first place with 44 out of a possible 58 points in their first year in the Bowmanville League. In the semi-finals, the James Gang went up against a very tough New- tonville Elliot team and this series went the distance of five games. Scores of the first four games were Elliots 10-9, James 7 - 4, Elliots 13 - 6, James 15 -14. The final score in the 5th and deciding game was 5 - 4 for the James Gang.
