November II. 1937 Halminen Midgets Competitive in AA Tournament On November 6, the Halminen Halminen Toro Midgets travelled travelled to Belleville to compete in an AA tournament. The first game saw the Halminen boys tie the AAA Midgets from Kingston. Kingston jumped into a two goal lead, the first goal coming seconds after Bowmanville nad successfully successfully killed a penalty. Their second came on a short-handed play. Bowmanville Bowmanville came back with a power play goal by Nick Dennis late in the period assisted assisted by Greg Goode. Ajax wasn't about to let up, and they scored on Going into their third game, the Halminen Midgets had their work cut out for them. They had to beat Chingua- cousy by 7 goals to have a chance to advance into the semi-finals. They came true to the test, working hard and winning 7-0. Burke Lush got the shutout for the Toros. The opposition didn't know what nit them when Nick Dennis scored just 11 seconds seconds after the puck was dropped. Gareth Stone and Tony VanHoof assisted. There was no stopping them as the Toros went on to score six more unanswered goals.
