By: Diane Hoogsteen Working as a secretary can be a harder job than it looks. Although typing and filing filing are a major part it also deals with the students that come into Student Services with problems. Carolyn Capipbell is a g *ade twelve student at ourtice Secondary, and she has her Co-op placement at the school as a secretary in Student Services here at our school. "I'm enjoying it. I like it a lot." Carolyn said. "I like the people I work with. They're really friendly toward me, and we all get along very well." Carolyn's placement has her responsible for filling out green slips for appointments, photocoping, computer work, putting up posters, filing filing and answering the telephone. telephone. "The part I like about my placement is the way people treat me." Carloyn said "It's like friends here. The worst part- Filing," Carloyn added without a hesitation. Carolyn's placement is challenging at times. "The computer," she says "Makes me so mad." . Carolyn would like to be a legal secretary in the future. She said, "The nice part of having Co-op is the chance to learn before going out into the real world. It's a big step." Mrs. Hood, Carloyn's employer, employer, is a friendly lady who enjoys helping out with the Co-op program. She says, "The best part of having a Co-op student is knowing that you are helping them gain some experience in the work field. It gives me a good feeling to be able to help out." Mrs. Hood described Carloyn Carloyn as a very exceptional and outgoing student. She is more than pleased with the work Carolyn has been doing. doing. During the day Mrs. Hood is responsible for computer computer work, looking after appointments appointments for the counsellors, counsellors, word processing, typing, typing, and College and University application forms. Mrs. Thomas, one of student student services counsellors said, "It's a great idea to have a Co-op student." , All the people Carolyn works with enjoy her working working there, and they get along well together. Obituary Japke De Jong Bom at Eestrum, Holland and educated in Holland, Japke De Jong, died on Saturday, Saturday, November 14, 1987, in Memorial Hospital, Bow- manville in her 92nd year. Daughter of Hessel and Jitske De Vries, she was married August 7, 1920, to the late Tye De Jong. Coming to Canada from Holland in 1952 she had resided resided at R.R. 1, Newtonville since 1956, and for the past two years had reside at Marnwood House, Bow- manville. She was a member of Maranatha Christian Reformed Reformed Church, Bowman- ville. Surviving are her daughter daughter Grietje, (Mrs. F. Rypstra) four grandsons,and seven great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband husband in 1981, and a daughter Jitskie in 1949. The Reverend J. Zantingh' and the Reverend G. Corv- ers officiated at the funeral' services held on Tuesday at the Maranatha Church. The organist was Mrs. J. Kam- minga. • Pallbearers were Messrs.
