i LIVE IN CONCERT For Mr. Gimblett's grade 6's part of the Concert, they chose six people to be heads of ' the elves, six people to be feet of the elves, and one speaker. Santa and the rest dressed up like elves and sat on benches along side the main stage. The speaker, Chris Atkins, Atkins, asked each elf his name and something special special about him or her. Save a toy for me elves! By: Matt Garrett DEBATE! DEBATE! DEBATE! DEBATE! Recently, Sam Cureatz came to visit Waverley P.S., to talk to the Grade 5 students students about Parliament, Question Period, and other government-related things. He set up the tables in the Library to resemble Parliament Parliament and the students from Mr. Thompson and Mrs. Bailey's class went through a sample of Question period, debating about many things including: how good Canadian students arc, traffic violations, and marijuana. Then Mr. Cureatz answered questions questions about his job. Some interesting things I learned sitting and watching watching in the press booth was that there are three political political parties: Liberal, NDP, and the Progressive Conservatives. Conservatives. Whichever of the three have the most scats or people believing in them becomes the Government. In Question Period, the two with the lowest amount of seats debate with the Government Government to make it look bad so they can become the Government. Government. Things sometimes can get pretty violent in there, so watch out!
