Downey Charles Wallace Callander Callander Downey, known to his many friends as "Charlie", passed away, Saturday, December December 26,1987, in his 81st year at Memorial Hospital Bowmanvillc, following a three months' illness. Son of David Wallace and Margaret Callander Downey, Downey, he was born and educated educated in Bowmanville. He was married February 14, 1942, to Vera Marie Ker- slake. A resident of Bowmanville Bowmanville at 96 High Street for 21 years, he had previously lived and farmed at R.R. 4 Bowmanville. He had also helped Clifford Pethick and attended fairs with Frank Stenger, retiring seven years ago. He was a member of the Bowmanville, Orono, and Obituary 9 Newcastle Horticultural Societies, Societies, L.A.C.A.C. and the Men's Canadian Club. His hobbies were choir caning and gardening. Surviving are his wife, daughters Anne Marie (Mrs. George Kennedy) Bowmanville, Bowmanville, Marlene, (Mrs. Dave McKee) Blackstock, three grandchildren, and a sister- in-law Nora Featherstone- Haugh, Oshawa.
