The goal keeping at both ends kept the score close. With the absence of both Bruce and Byron Harnon who were on vacation vacation to the East Coast Steve Oke was called upon to play all five games. Ryan Robinson opened the scoring with a slapshot from the blueline that caught the Toronto goalie sleeping. Assist going to Gary Adams. The visitors came back with two quick goals but Ryan Robinson tied the score from Chris Heffernan. North West Sports scored once again before before the 1st period ended, Warren Bate from Jason Hoffman and Andrew Ferguson. Ferguson. North West Sports tied the game late in the second. second. Jason Jackman put Ryan Robinson in the clear late in the third period and he scored his third goal of the game. To give C.T. Toros a 4-3 victory. Toros 5 Saltfleet 1. C.T. Toros won their second second game of the tournament with little problem. Doug Parkin scored early in the 1st period with Mike Nesbitt assisting. assisting. Minutes later, Jason Jackson from Warren Bate upped the score to 2-0 before Saltfleet scored their lone goal of the game. In the second second period Mike Cramm from Andrew Ferguson, Gaiy Adams from Mike Nesbitt, Nesbitt, and Chris Heffernan from Ryan Robinson and Jason Jason Jackman rounded out the scoring. The third period was a perid of give aways which kept both goaltenders alert. Toros 8 Welland 0 This was a classic game to watch as C.T. Toros dominated dominated the much smaller team. The C.T. Toros passed the puck around in this game like the Oilers do with Gretzky Gretzky in control. Every so often this C.T. Toro team comes up with this type of game that probably amazes the coaching staff and entertains the fans. In the 1st period, Warren Bate from Jeff Murphy and Andrew Ferguson, then Ryan Robinson from Gary Adams and Jeff Murphy. In the 2nd period, Mike Nesbitt opened the scoring with Jason Jackman assisting assisting and Ryan Robinson unassisted unassisted closed out the period. period. The 3rd period saw Warren Warren Bate notch his 2nd of the game from Ryan Robinson. Mike Nesbitt from Gary Adams Adams and Mike DeBlois, and then Gary Adams blasted in the 7th goal of the game with assist to Andrew Ferguson. Late in the 3rd period Doug Parkin scored on a nice setup from Jeff Murphy and The C.T. Toro corner man Mike Nesbitt Toros 7 Whitby 0 The C.T. Toros winning Group A and Whitby/ Brooklin winning Group B faced-off for wnat looked like a great match up. Like the Saltfleet tournament, Whitby coaching staff decided decided to keep a close check on #12 Ryan Robinson but once again the depth of the C.T. Toros scored 7 unanswered goals without a helper from Ryan Robinson. Mike Nesbitt Nesbitt and Gary Adams led the way with 2 goals each. Goals by Chris Heffernan, Doug Parkins and Jason Hoffman were more than enough to give the C.T. Toros the win and the championship trophy trophy for the Christmas Classic. Classic. Young Canada Day Toros 15 Thornhill 1 This was an enbarassing score for our Young Canada Day game. Prior to Christmas Christmas the C.T. Toros travelled to Thornhill for a 2-2 draw and just a little more than an entertaining game but the Thornhill club is a class organization. organization. The Province of Ontario has committed itself to adding 6,800 more non-profit units in Ontario during 1988, game was to be another entertaining entertaining matchup but our boys who have risen for big games all year did it once again. At the end of one period, the score was 1-1 with Mike Nesbitt from Jason Jackman doing the damage. From there on in it was all Toros with Ryan Robinson doing a great deal of damage, scoring scoring six times. Mike Cramm notched his 1st hat-trick of the season, Gary Adams and Warren Bate scored a pair' each and Jason Jackman getting the long marker. Ryan Robinson accepted the team trophy along with the M.V.P. player trophy of the game. A great week, a great effort effort from each player. Five important games - Five wins. The coaching staff, parents and Canadian Tire should be proud of the boys to date. Exhibition Weekend The C.T. Toros played 3 games this past weekend trying to stay sharp for the upcoming Peterborough tournament and the Ontario Playdowns. The Toros played a home and home series with the Oshawa Canadiens winning Saturday 4-1 at home ana travel to Brooklin Sunday evening winning 5-2. On Saturday the Toros played against Markham, a very fast disciplined hockey team and came away with a 4-2 victory. Sorry boys the score sheets were not available available for your scoring stats. On the weekend on January January 22-24 the Canadian Tire Toros will participate in the largest atom hockey tournament tournament around. Last year the boys lost only 1 of 6 games in the tournament and that was to Cobourg in the championship. championship. The competition will be very good this year with teams from Oshawa, Port Perry, Hespeler, Leamington, Leamington, Peterborough, Cobourg, Collingwood and many more.
