On January 16, Hutton Transport played its league game against Ontario Hydro. Hydro. The truckers skated to a 3 to 1 victory. The truckers were forced to make some lineup changes due to missing missing players. L Chad Veinot picked up the first goal for the truckers on a hard shot that Ryan Policy stopped but couldn't hold. Les McCrory passed the puck out to an open Curtis Curtis Courneyea in front of the Hydro net. With an empty net Curtis had no problem with this one. Hydro scored a goal with two minutes to go in the game which seemed to pump up the Hydro Hydro team. Mark Read took a pass from Mike Talotti and skated the length of the ice, planting the puck behind Ryan Polley. Steve Sargent and Robbie Robbins had to make many hard saves for the Hutton team. Midgets Retain No Loss Record The Toro Midget A team played their last league game of the season at Darlington Darlington on January 12 and beat Pickering 5-0. The first period saw Bowmanville Bowmanville get two goals scored by Shane Armstrong- and Guy Freeman. Assists went to Dean Baumhauer (2), Stephen Smith and Rob Real. There was no scoring in the second period, but early in the third Brad Carnegie netted the Toros' third goal, assisted by Nick Dennis and Mark Tripp. Steven Smith and Tony VanHoof each got a goal before the final buzzer y;r:h assists going to Greg Healey, Shane, Rob and Mark. Frank's Variety Novice Selects have lost three games in a row. They lost to O.C.H.L. Oshawa 2-0 on January 2 in a close checking checking game then dropped a 6-0 decision to Scarborough Cougars Major Selects on January 9. The team was very flat and showed no desire desire due mainly to the fact that they used the Scarborough Scarborough team's goalie as theirs were absent. They showed a lot of pride and desire in their 5-2 loss to Oshawa O.C.H.L. return game on January 16. Trailing 1-0, Jason Jason Frayne passed to Jason Lange who in return laid a perfect pass to Niki Defreitas to tie the game. The game remained close through the first and second periods, before Variety lost it in the third. A power play goal by Niki assisted by Stephen Stephen Tabb and Jason Frayne rounded out the scoring for Variety. Jason played a good game as did rent Stockman, Guy Tou- ing Ryan Jackman, Stephen Tabb and Chad Unsworth really showed and our defense of Colin MacDonald, Chris Pot, Jason Frayne and David Lcppert did their best in helping goalie John Marco Cannito as he stopped 38 of 43 shots.
