The flowers were placed in the sanctuary of the church in her memo- OBITUARY Zachariah David Adams The youngest of 13 children, children, Zachariah David Adams, Adams, died at 98 Church St., Bowmanville on Friday, January 29.1988. In his 90th year he had been ill only seven seven days. Son of the late Thomas and Maria Adams, he was born in Clarke Township, and educated at New Parle. He was married November 9,1921, in Blackstock, to the late Margaret Susan Elford. He had resided in Bowmanville Bowmanville 42 years. Employed by the C.P.R., and as a carpenter by Ernie Laird, he had helped build the arena, both Salvation Army additions, houses, the Pentecostal Church, Morris Funeral Chapel, and home additions, retiring 20 years ago. He was an adherent of the Salvation Army. Surviving are his sons Ross and Berwin, Oshawa, Murray, Wayburn, Sam, twins Bryce and Blaine, a daughter Margeritte Boa- cock, 23 grandchildren, 28 groat grandchildren, and one groat, great grandchild. Ho was predeceased by a son Garry. Funeral services wore hold at the Morris Funeral Chapel, with Lt. R. Shirren officiating, on Monday. Many groups had displays of historic interest to local communities. There are euchre parties every Wednesday night 8 p.m. and ladies are invited to bring lunch. 50th Wedding Anniversary A very pleasant event took place on Saturday, February February 6 in I.O.O.F. hall, when Mr. and Mrs. Horace Best celebrated their 50th wedding wedding anniversary. Approximately 170 relatives, relatives, friends and neighbours called to bring good wishes happy couple, i'ne were lovely with gold to the tables were candles, flowers and beautifully beautifully decorated cake, and many gifts and cards. Congratulations Congratulations Horace and Marjorie! Unit News Unit # 1 met Wednesday afternoon in Main hall, of the church with 19 ladies in attendance. Those in charge of the meeting were Mrs. Gladys Greenwood, Mrs. Dorothy Robinson and Mrs. Bertha White. The devotions were based on the theme "Love" and everyone present brought a valentine, some old and some new designs. The ladies are going to be very busy in the coming days with many catering events coming up. A delicious delicious lunch closed a very enjoyable enjoyable meeting. Unit 2 and 3 (combined) met Wednesday afternoon February 3 at the home of Mrs. Olive Millson, with 12 ladies in attendance. Mrs Neice DeJonge, Olive Mill- son and Isabelle Challice were in charge of the program. program. Mrs. Adele McGill was in charge of the business and a great deal of social events coming up. Olive was thanked for holding the meeting and serving a tasty lunch. Twenty ladies of unit #4 met Tuesday night in church, with Ruth Grady, Edna Watson and Yvonne Trafford in charge of the meeting. The devotional theme was on "St. Valentine and Love". The guest speaker speaker was one of our own members, members, Mrs. Pat Irwin, a nurse, who presented a very interesting interesting program on "Heart Attacks". What to do and Prevention. Mrs. Carol Yeo gave the Children's story and everyone everyone joined in the Children's hymn, "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands."
