What else is new, say you! Back to our favorite favorite spectator sport to assist assist in alleviating the January/February January/February blahs and suspending suspending boredom associated associated with this season of the year. We have noticed the past day or two large Hocks of mourning doves, horned larks and a swarm of crows that numbered near one hundred. Around our bird feeders we have daily our usual evening grosbeaks, bluejays, a pair of hairy woodpeckers and a downy woodpecker plus a few tree sparrows, a pair of purple finch (the male is actually pinkish), and a couple of dozen of another variety similar in size to the tree sparrows with olive-yellow neck feathers above and below, plain breasts and stripes on the wings and tail with short perky tails. Perhaps someone will identify identify the little rascals. Also we have a nuthatch drop in periodically. Actually the unidentified species closely resembles a miniature version of the female evening grosbeak. Almost everyone, even the birds seem to he enjoying the current unseasonably warm weather. The favorite expression of the eternal pessimist is to remark "Oh we'll pay for it later." It's almost almost like buying on a credit card - buy now pay later - very disconcerting. While holidaying in Costa Rica recently, Candy Malcolm Malcolm and her girlfriend Nancy spent one week at a Hotel in San Jose and one week on the beach at Jaco Beach. They also flew up to Rio de la Colorado near the Nicarauga border and took a boat trip back to Port Lemon. Quite an interesting holiday. On Saturday evening Howard, Eileen and Candy had Peter and Christine Gill as guests. They are the new owners of the former Joe and Ida Ilurteg property property and immigrated to Canada Canada from India some 12 years ago. Having visited India not long ago Candy was able to get additional information on the culture and habits ofthc diverse regions regions of India which embraces embraces some 23 languages within its borders. The Gills have slides of India and have been showing them at various Horticultural functions functions in the area. We'll look forward to the opportunity of looking at these slides with commentary in the near future. We found their descriptions of their home land very interesting and informative.
