The only problem was Bowmanville lost. The Goodyear Eagles forgot they were a team and the play of ' individuals was stopped by a hot goalie. Wellington started off the game flying and netted 5 goals on a shakey Scott Webster Webster before he was replaced half way through the second period by Dave Smith. With 49 seconds left in the second frame, Jeff Dawson popped in a rebound off of Jeff Smith's hard shot and the period ended 5-1. The Bird- men came to play hockey in the third period. It took over 6 minutes of pressure for Bowmanville to score their 2nd goal. It was a snap shot by Troy Foster, between the legs of the Duke's goalie that brought the Eagles back into the game. At 16:18, Chris Dreossi netted a pass from Jeff Dawson and Steve Terry Terry to bring the score within two and the excitement- grew. With two minutes left in the game, John Cleiff wasted his only shift of the third period by high sticking one of the Dukes. This action spoiled any opportunity of a comeback. Clieff was mad because he was benched during the third period and he apparently felt that playing playing cheap hockey would win him a spot back on the ice. Bowmanville is a team and the only way Clieff will see ice time is if he realizes this. In the last minute of play during a fight, Brian Heard was struck over the head by a helmet. Heard is okay and Darren YuilL Captain for the Wellington Dukes was given a match penalty (second time this year) and suspended suspended for four games. When Pat Lange, coach of the Eagles, was asked about the officiating, officiating, he stated. "The officials, when in Wellington wore white shirts and when here wear the visitors." Lange was upset over the uncontrolled uncontrolled game the referee called, however, he felt satisfied satisfied over the term of Yuill's suspension. Short Notes...
