On the third Sunday of Lent, Services of Holy Communion Communion were held at 8 and 11 a.m. in St. George's Church. On Friday, March 4, the World Day of Prayer Service Service for the Newcastle village village area was held in St. George's. Thursday, February 11/ 88 saw the "Mike's Place" Midgets open their best 3 out of 5 playoffs with Little Britain Britain and come away on the short end of a 6-4 score. The first period saw Little Britain club go up by a 2-0 score on goals by John Murphy and Mike Brown as the Newcastle Newcastle club came out totally flat and disorganized. The second period saw the local lads finally wake up to out score Little Britain by a 4-1 count to end the second period 4-3 for Newcastle. Ted Gaudet opened the Newcastle scoring assisted by David Bailey and Stuart Irwin, then Daryl Burke made it a 2-2 game with a power play goal assisted by Mark vanderheyden and "Howie" Sikma. Two minutes later Stuart Irwin put one in to make it 3- 2 with David Bailey and Patrick Patrick Woods assisting. With 0:53 seconds left in the period period Daryl Burke came up with his second of the game assisted by Mark Vande-- rheyden and Richard Maki to end the second period 4-3 for Newcastle. The third period saw the local lads come out the same way as the first with little effort effort and total disorganization and watched as Little Britain put in threee unanswered goals to end the game 6-4 for Little'Britain.
