A total of 96 adults and kids attended the Easter Egg Hunt. Volunteers Sell Daffodils To Raise Funds for Cancer Society RAIN FOREST -- Have you taken a look at the Visual Arts Centre lately? You'll find that it has been turned into a tropical rain forest by children in a weekend art program. This Sunday, Sunday, April 17, the public is invited to drop by the Arts Centre to see the unveiling of the finished display. Hours are two to four p.m. on Sunday. The exhibit will also be open daily from one p.m. to four p.m. and from one p.m. to seven p.m. on Wednesday, April 20, when the show will conclude. The special guest this Sunday is Mary Granskou, president of Canadians Canadians for Conservation of Tropical Nature and Rain Forest Education. The Sunday afternoon program includes a sale of tropical plants, a surprise guest from the Bowmanville Zoo and a silent auction of rain forest objects d'art made by the students. The Canadian Cancer Society received a boost from the staff and students at Clarke High School last week. Dylan Parker, the departing student council president^ president^ presented a cheque for $737.84 to campaign chairman for Bowmanville and district, Ernie Eves. The money was raised at the Winter Carnival Days in February. The actual cheque was already in the bank for the organization, so a makeshift cheque was soon produced. The school is to be commended for their fund raising efforts for the very worthy cause. Orono Soloists Perform at Annual Carnival NDP EXECUTIVE -- Members of NDP association association for the federal riding of Durham held their founding meeting in Oshawa last Wednesday, April 6. The executive members for the new riding include: Sharon Broadbent, Ron Kozak, Ron Gilbert, Jack Hallam, Fran Ward, Pat Bar- nicott, Sheila Muloney and Richard Ledwidge. The spokesperson chosen was Marg Wilbur. Bob. Linton was chosen treasurer. The other positions in the Riding Association Executive will be announced at a later date. How many volunteers does it take to mount a successful successful fund raising campaign? Mary Tillcock, Daffodil Day Convenor for the yearly. Canadian Cancer Society drive, would say that it takes a whole lot. Mrs. Tillcock is on charge of the people who were posted at the street corners all over the Town of Newcastle Newcastle to sell daffodils and pins for the Canadian Cancer Society. This year is the 50th anniversary of the Cancer Society and the town's goal is $45,000. The annual Orono Figure Skating Carnival was an outstanding success. Helping to make the event as wonderful as it was were the above three skaters.
