These early blooms in the spring represent a sense of hope and renewed life, and annually annually we celebrate Daffodil Day at the beginning of April - a kickoff kickoff for the Cancer Campaign. Today, Today, daffodils have become as much of a symbol of the Canadian Cancer Society as the Caduceus Pin! Cartwright canvassers are out in full force under the direction of Pat Sleep, our Campaign Director for this area. All enjoyed the visit! General U.C.W. Meeting The meeting of the Nestleton General U.C.W. was held March 29 in the Church S.S. room with the Evening Unit as hostess. Many attended and enjoyed the participation play based on the Easter story. President Janice MacKenzie set the scene and led this meaningful devotional which included Easter hymns and lovely lovely solos and duets by the members. Kay Notman introduced the giiest speaker Kathleen Petrie from Anaida Nurseries, Blackstock, who gave members interesting pointers to start the spring gardening. A question and answer period followed wherein many members received answers to gardening problems. It was a pleasure to have Anita Davis honour Jean Williams with a life membership in the U.C.W. - on behalf of Jean's mother Ella Bowers. This Award was presented for years of faithful service. During business Barb Weir made an appeal for used stamps and Campbell soup labels which assist Third World Relief Programs. Programs. Sympathy Extended Deepest sympathy to Jim Fraser and his family of Shady Acres (Emerson Beach) in the tragic death of his beloved wife Dolly, who died as the result of a car accident in the Mount Albert area, Easter weekend. The Frasers have lived at Shady Acres for 35 years and have à family of six boys and one girl. Mrs. Fraser was a very devoted mother...and the Frasers have always been a closely knit family! family!
