During this time, 18 fires have been set. Mostly the fires have been in derelict vehicles, vehicles, Goodwill boxes, garbage garbage cans, storeage vans and at the rear of buildings. Unfortunately, tne most serious of these fires was set at Midway Carpet, 39 Harwood Harwood Avenue South between between 10 p.m. and midnight on September 4th last year. A passing motorist spotted the fire which had been started on the rear loading dock and attempted to put it out but was unable to do so. The fire department was called but unfortunately the building and contents were destroyed. The adjoining buildings were saved but suffered smoke damage. Damage to Midway Carpet was in excess of $700,000. A re-enactment of the fire wil be shown on CITY TV, Channel 57, Cable 7 on Thursday, May 12th during the 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. news. It will also be shown on CHEX and CKVR news on Friday, May 13th. Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1000 for information leading to the arrest of the person responsible for these fires.
