t Appreciation Dinner Held for Community Care Volunteers Hi Community Care honored some of its 240 volunteers volunteers on Tuesday, May 3, during an appreciation banquet held at the Bowmanville Lions Centre. From left are: Alyce Yeo, recipient of the Kathleen Grundy Award and the Special Recognition Award; Aileen Turner, recipient of an Honor Roll Plaque; Doreen Barrie, Community Care special recognition award; and Sally Barrie, Chairman of the Community Community Care Board of Directors. In total, Community Care volunteers have provided 13,472 volunteer hours of assistance to seniors in the past year. They drove a total of 81,900 kilometres during that same time. World Class Instructors Visit Maple Leaf Karate Club The Maple Leaf Karate Club held a combination clinic and upgrading session on Saturday, May 7. Students, were .taking, grading, in various levels of. the sport, from yellow to blue belts. The upgrading sessions are held approximately every three to four months. Saturday's clinic featured several Canadian Canadian and world-class instructors who were visiting the club.to assist during.the,afternoon.
