In The Sky Above The Clouds In the sky Above theclouds In a hot air balloon The tranquility is exaggerated exaggerated In the midst of the day. There is a world all its own In the sky above the clouds To those who seek it In the sky above the clouds. By Leanne Schnerch. Balloons Flying high Floating softly Seeing birds Looking down Wind blowing Tiny cars Little people Going down Bump! -bump! by Ryan Branigan In Editor's Mail Dear Sir: Premier David Peterson's public posture has not been exemplary of late. For instance, instance, he states uneqivoca- bly that "the government has already made its mind up about Sunday openings and there is notmng more to be said. That's it! It's impossible to please everyone." The Premier Premier has thus swept aside further discussion with his irreverent and liigh-handed disclaimer. How cheeky of him! This is politics of the worst sort and far removed from his more illustrious performance performance in the recent Ontario eleciton campaign. What has happened since Mr. Peterson took over as head honcho of the Liberal juggernaut? Railroading Railroading legislation through the parliamentry meat- grinder is a fraility common to many political parties saddled with huge majorities, majorities, and Mr. Peterson unfortunately unfortunately has fallen heir to this same lethal legacy. Neither has the provincial leader endeared himself with an exasperated public. He has become curt and cynical cynical while distancing himself from some of the promises made during the heat of an' election campaign. And he' has totally discarded many of those admirable preelection preelection charms, such as patience patience and '/courtesy, that added cachet; to his disarming disarming personnel. The recently held by- election in London Nortn, which the Conservatives won handily, signals better than any poll could, that Ontario Ontario voters do NOT want Sunday openings. The honeymoon honeymoon is over Mr. Premier. It's time to clean up your act. With all due respect, you should be listening to the grass roots voters and not just your high-priced advisors. advisors. And wouldn't it be grand if you would allow your party party caucus to vote as conscience conscience dictates, on the Sunday Sunday issue, instead of forcing them to too the party lino? That is, if you want them to net in the licst interests of the electorate. Yours very truly, Ervin Enclin 710-23 Woodlawn Road East Guelph, Ontario Nil I 7GG Phone 1-619-821-7653.
