But I also know what she would have said, "Don't worry about me, help those who really need your help, restore their sight so they can experience all the joys I've had most of my 'life." Albert Schewietzer said: "I •don't know what your destiny destiny will be, but one thing I do know; the only ones among you who will be really happy are those who have sought and found how to serve." My mother was really happy! Her whole life was spent doing for others. Hope you had a very Happy Mothers Day,, and may God protect ana bless all our volunteers and may we recognize and thank them for their devotëd ef- ■ forts. Very sincerely, Doreen Ransom 1503, 200 Tuxedo Blvd. Winnipeg, Manitoba R3P OR3. As I look out the window and see the last throes of winter quickly vanishing and fresn life anxiously awaiting the beautiful warm sun so it can burst from the ground, I look around me and feel very thankful that by some stroke of fate I am here in Canada and able to enjoy the fresh, clean air, the blue sky and rich fertile soil that is so much a part of us. But along with being grateful for where I live, I am also very grateful for the people who are a part of my country. 'Canadians Care. Yes, they really do, and nowhere nowhere is it more apparent than in the Third World. Of course there is much more to do, but I think we should ac- knowldege our accomplishments. accomplishments. Accomplishments such as the number of man hours that Operation Eyesight volunteers donate the $25 donations, saved out of grocery money, or pension cheques that go toward restoring eyesight. They are truly impressive. Visiting A Third World country can make one feel very humble. To see the smiles of mothers and fathers fathers whose children's sight has been restored or to observe observe an elderly woman, whose cataracts have just been removed, try to bend over to kiss the feet of monitoring monitoring personnel to show her gratitude. My wish is that all those who donate to Operation Operation Eyesight could experience experience these feelings, to know what a wonderful thing they are doing giving individu als a feeling of self respect, a new lease on life, the joy of sight. Donations can be for- , warded to P.O. Box 123, Station Station 'M', Calgary, Alberta T2P 2H6. I have one more wish, which unfortunately is an impossible one. T wish my mother's sight could have been saved, so she could have seen her grandchildren THE REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY OF DURHAM PUBLIC NOTICE Take notice that the Regional Municipality of Durham is considering considering a proposed by-law to name portions of various Regional Regional Roads within the former Township of East Whitby, now in the City of Oshawa. twwsi si uau In order to assist in the evaluation of the proposed by-law, the public is invited to provide input by way of submissions to the Region's Planning Department.
