I don't think there was anything anything left out. Speaking for my children as well, it is a day they will always remember and look forward to from year to year. Courtice being serviced serviced by Ontario Hydro and not part of the Newcastle P.U.C. franchise means the residents pay substantially more for hydro consumption due to the fact that they arc paying rural rates. Being on course at the University of Ottawa at the present time, I personally could not attend this gathering but due to the organization I represent in the community I would like to have the opportunity to comment if I may, on this disparity within the Town of Newcastle. ■ In May of 1986, the Community Community Association warned the Town if they could not do something to end this disparity disparity the threatened annexation annexation by Oshawa was an underlying underlying current in Courtice.. The reply we received from the Town was that-' they were meeting with the ' representatives of Ontario Hydro with the possible expansion expansion of the P.U.C. to take over more of the town. The final reply was that the Crown Corporation would not let the Town take over another portion of the Newcastle area but would have to buy the remainder of Hydro's service within the Town, and the cost would be prohibitive. Ontario Hydro, a Crown Corporation claims to be in business as a service not as a profit oriented corporation. May I suggest to Hydro that they act the part they claim to be and allow the Town of Newcastle to take over the Courtice area or any other community as it develops as Courtice has within the Town. To the Town of Newcastle, Newcastle, the facts of this latest de velopment in Courtice speak for themselves. In 1986 we warned of what would become become an increasing grievance grievance within the Town. From time to time Hydro has made grants to the Town. In the event Hydro retains their present position I would suggest the Town search for a way to distribute distribute these funds to the residents residents in creating a fair and equitable distribution of costs for hydro electric power. . I remain, yours truly, Larry Hannah - President of Courtice and Area Community Community Association, 7 Phair Ave., R.R. 2 Bowmanvilln, .Ontario.
