All Stars Win Soccer Contest The annual All Star game of the Darlington Soccer League, was held Saturday evening, with the league's selects, selects, challenging the defending defending league champions, Tyrone. Tyrone. In the hot and humid weekend weather conditions at Tyrone Park, the undefeated undefeated league leaders met their toughest opposition of the season. The. first half of the match, had the home side start out quickly by pressing the All Stars defense, but steady goal keeping by Bob McCann and the strong defensive defensive work of the back four, kept Tyrone off the scoreboard. As the half proceeded, proceeded, the selects began to work together more and more, showing just whv they were chosen to represent their respective teams. But despite tne good chances at both ends, the half ended scoreless. The second half began in the same way the first had ended, with plenty of end to end action, until Tim Stoop of Solina unleashed a wicked shot from just outside of the penalty area that beat the Tyrone keeper. Midway through the half, Jim Potter put Darlington up by two goals, when his long shot from centre field found the Tyrone net. Finally, with only minutes remaining in the game, a curling cross from Dale McGill was met by Boyd Knox with a power- iily ful head ball, that easily beat Tyrone's keeper Doug Hemming Hemming to finish the scoring at HELP WANTED Reliable Full or Part-time COOK Apply in person: Busters or Castle 987-4442 or 623-7072 a BUSTER'S ROADHOUSE and TAVERN cl 45 King Street West Newcastle 987-4442 THIS WEEK! a • v July 14,15,16 Diane Young July 21, 22, 23 Martin Dolby ✓ B*UtfUuf you QtfU and QtoétUtql.,.
