Two of the officers receiving medals were originally from the Bowmanville Police Department. Sergeant John Bird and Detective Ron Parker were among only four members of the Durham Regional Police Force to receive their Exemplary Service Medal Bar for 30 years' service. After the formation of the.Durham Region, both men continued their careers with the Durham Regional Police. They have since retired.
