New Season for Figure Skaters The Canadian Statesman, Bowmanville, September 28,1988 Section Two 9 Ribbon Cutting Opens Playground The week of October 2nd marks the beginning of the 1988-89 skating season at the Orono Figure Skating Club. The Seniors will start Sunday, Intermediate and Canfigureskate on Monday and Juniors in Canskate on Tuesday. Welcome to all old and new-members. We have a large group starting in the Canskate program program this year. For many it will be their first experience with skating. We suggest that the children be dressed warmly i.e. snowsuits, mitts and hats. Also have them use the washroom before going on the ice. For their protection protection a helmet is a good idea and we also ask that skate guards be worn whenever skaters are not on the ice. This will protect the shar pening on the blade and also the floors. Skates should fit properly and provide support. support. Our professional coaches returning this season are Al- lyson Cowan, Ann Trudel and Stephanie Hood. Welcome Welcome to new coaches Susan Ennis and Barbara Lehming. The Canskate program could not run successfully without the help of our Junior Junior Coaches and Assistant Junior Coaches. These are unpaid volunteer skaters who are qualified through their own level of skating, attending attending a course and writing an exam. They deserve the support of parents and skaters. skaters.
