Further details will follow. FARMERS' BONSPIEL -- Ontario farmers will have a chance this winter to compete in a new provincial curling bonspiel for farmers only. The Ontario Provincial Provincial Farmers' Curling Bonspiel is scheduled for January January 20 to 22 at the Sydenham Community Curling Club in Wallaceburg. It is sanctioned by the Ontario Curling Association. To be eligible to participate, the rinks must certify that all members are actively engaged engaged in farming. A number of playdowns will take place before the bonspiel. Most of the ag- : E ressive play was led by #10, arry Perris with good clean hits, and a dazzling end to end rush. However, this was short lived as he was enticed into a fight at the 10 minute mark of the first period and was gone for the night. Five minutes later, Wellington Wellington tallied their first marker and added two more before the period was over. Goal-tender A1 Hall could not be faulted on these goals as they were well set up and he had little protection. Wellington made it 4-0 two minutes into the second. Chris Pearce deflected in a Dean Baumhauer slapshot at the 17 minute mark, to put the Eagles on the score board, with Shane Armstrong Armstrong also getting an assist. Wellington held the edge in shots 13-10 in the second. Wellington opened the scoring in the third with a power-play goal. Dean Baumhauer pumped a wrist shot home on passes from Troy Foster and Nick Dennis to make it 5-2. Brian Noble put the Eagles within 2 on a power play goal from Shane Armstrong and Shawn Rek- ker. Wellington came back with two more to once more widen the edge to 4. David Fairey closed out the scoring with some nifty stick handling handling on a solo effort when sent away by Kelly Armstrong. Armstrong. The Eagles travel to Trenton Trenton Friday night and are at home next Sunday to Madoc. Madoc. The absence of coach Pat Lange on the bench and on the program was conspi- cous. There was no doubt Pat gave 100% effort to the job and it is difficult to please every one. As we hit the ice next Sunday, Sunday, (possibly in the new recreation complex) it will be interesting to see who is at the helm. There is no doubt this flock of Eagles need some one to take charge and get the best out of the talent available. It is also important for the players to come to play hockey for the team. There was a good crowd on hand Sunday night, and they deserve to see the best the team has to offer. It sounds very much like this could be an interesting year as every team has lost a few and won a few. Little Britain nipped Lakefield 6-5 last Saturday night. See you next Sunday. These 14 young hockey enthusiasts enthusiasts displayed they had the necessary talents required required to build a good team. More importantly, their style of play shows they are beginning beginning to play as a group of team players. Throughout this game against J&J Sharpening, the Truckers made many good passing plays and were using using the defensemen in their offensive attacks which resulted resulted in a 3-0 win. Ryan Stainton earned a well deserved deserved shutout, especially in scrambles around the net when he positioned himself tight against the goal posts and covered up the loose pucks. Despite two power plays in the first period, J&J were unable to get by the defensive defensive lines of Les McCrory and Brian Hogenhout and of Greg Knox and Peter Schoep. It wasn't until early in the second period that the Truckers scored after two very close calls. Two penalties were handed handed out to J&J during the remainder remainder of the second period period but the Truckers were unable to capitalize on them due to, in large part, the efforts efforts of J&J goaltender Clayton Clayton Rendell. On a long pass from McCrory, Coumeyea was stopped by the J&J goaltender and on a pass from Colin Galinski, Jeff Hughes was unable to get the'puck into the net. Early in the third period, Rendell once again kept J&J in the game by stopping McCrory on a breakaway. During the Truckers' third power play of the game, Coumeyea took a faceoff and fed the puck back to Schoep at the blueline who then fired a shot at the net. The waist high puck was tipped by Coumeyea, changing changing its direction slightly to fool the goaltender and take a two goal lead. A few minutes minutes later, Alex Walcer set up Coumeyea who was once again stopped by the J&J goaltender. Midway through the period, the Trackers successfully successfully killed off their third . and final penalty. Some line changes by the coaches during during the last three minutes of play, resulted in Hutton Transport's third point when Hughes, set up by McCrory jj$ cn effort they put forth during this game. On Saturday, Hutton Transport played an exhibition exhibition game in Oshawa against Christ Church of the O.C.H.L. Three goals in the first period, all by Jeff Hughes, were the only ones for the Truckers in the entire game. Assists were earned by Paul Hollingsworth and Brad Read. Hutton's goal- tender, Ryan Stainton, played well and made some Key saves. With only two minutes reamaining in the game, his bid for a second shutout was ended when Christ Church scored. The coaches were pleased that none of the players received any penalties. Less passing occurred during this game but some of this may be attributed attributed to an oversight of the host team.
