November 9,1988 Residen ts Host Annual Christmas Bazaar at Strathaven On Friday, November 4, the residents at Strathaven Strathaven Nursing Home staged their annual Christmas Bafcaar, which featured numerous crafts and a draw for three lovely prizes. Figure Skating Club Begins New Season At Complex By Pat Carter The B.F.S.C. has had a very successful start considering considering the Arena troubles. I hope everyone is back on schedule and we thank you for being so patient with us. Our Boutique Sale in October October was very profitable and we hope to nave one every month so, if you have any old skaing items to sell, please turn them in. The next sale will be on November 20, 1988 at Darlington Arena, with some good discounts for Christmas presents and ideas. Fall test day was very successful with David and Jennifer Ur win and Larisa Traill with their Fiesta dance. Also, a great success was made with Rob Urwin receiving his Senior silver Dances. This acheivement takes a lot of work and dedication dedication in skating. Rob has been skating in tne B.F.S.C. for 12 years. He also has amateur amateur coached in the Power Skating, Can Skate and Can Figure Skating Programs for 7 years. We are very proud to see Rob achieve this as he is our most senior skater and his dedication to the sport inspires inspires younger boys to follow follow in his foot steps. Good Luck in your Gold. Jennifer and David Urwin Urwin will be off to the Eastern Sectional Competition in the Dance Pairs level the end of November. Best of Luck, kids. At the last two competitions competitions our skaters did very well and had a great time. Our greatest success was Micheal Mirsch receiving a 1st in the Pre-Juvenile Men's category. This was a very great achievement by Micheal Micheal as he was skating up two categories. The club is very proud and wishes Micheal Micheal great success in the future. future. Another of our figure skaters, Jennifer Carter, has successfully made the Whitby Whitby Novice Precision Angels Team. This achievement will take Jennifer and her parents parents travelling. The teams have competitions scheduled for Lake Placid N.Y., Laval, Quebec, and sectionals at Ottawa Ottawa in February 1989.
