A few seats still remain - call Kathleen Petrie at 9864771 for information. • Next Tuesday, November 15 there will be a public meeting about Recycling with a guest speaker held at Nestleton Hall at 8 p.m. This is your opportunity to learn specific information about this very important matter. Remember Nov. 15 at 8 p.m. Mrs. Harold McLaughlin and Mrs. Joe Wygerde attended the Women's Institute Convention in Toronto for two days. They report many interesting sessions were held there. Larry Hoskin of Lake Louise spent a few days in the area, visiting his parents Frank and Muriel Hoskin and other relatives and friends. • On Saturday, Grant and Neil iMclaughÛn and Jean Mahaffy attended attended the funeral service for }Mrs. Bob Mahaffy in St. Mary's, (Ontario. Margaret had put up a /valiant struggle against cancer .for a considerable time. ; Earl Trewin of Enniskillen > passed away on Saturday after a ; lengthy illness. The 101st anniversary service of the Blackstock United Church was held on Sunday morning with the guest speaker Ron Neun who has recently returned from a two year project with the United Church of Zambia. The service began with a Prelude "Sweet Hour Of Prayer" by Jill Van- Camp. During the service Don Taylor and Glenn Larmer sang a beautiful duet Bless This House and the Junior Choir had a lovely anthem - "Multiply" and the Senior Choir had an anthem "Great is the Lord". The guest speaker Ron Neun, spoke on "Zambian Reflections - The Church in the 2/3rds World". Following the excellent service a lunch and social time enjoyed followed by a slide presentation by Mr. Neun illustrating his stay in Zambia. Women's Institute ? The meeting opened with the Institute Institute Ode and Mary Stewart Collect. Collect. As the guest speaker was scheduled to go to another appointment appointment Muriel Hoskin began the program by introducing Marilyn Wallace from Port Perry who gave a most interesting talk on her silk painting and dying process. process. She began with a brief history of the silkworm industry telling us the legend of the discovery of the silkworm filament filament which began in China in 2500 Marilyn had several samples of many different finishes such as raw silk, satin finish, jersey fabric, etc. She had many beautiful hand painted and dyed scarves. She is a very knowledgeable lady about her craft, having been to China herself several times. It was a most enjoyable afternoon. Business meeting consisted ot a report by Eileen McLaughlin on the recent convention held in the Royal York. Donations were made to the Memorial Hospital fund in memory of Elva VanCamp, the High School Commencement, Operation Scugog and other payments. , ,, A report on Agricultural Awareness Day was made with the decision that we would plan to do this after the March Break.
