Dennis Pizzeria Novices The Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA) chose their Women Of Distinction at an awards dinner in Oshawa November November 10. Women were nominated across the Region of Durham Durham to be recognized for their work in the community and for what they have accomplished accomplished to benefit women. women. They were nominated in four areas: The Arts, Community Community Service, Women in the Workforce and Young Women of Distinction. . The winners this year are: Fleurette Leger, The Arts; Nancy Diamond, Community Community Service; Lyndia Sauriol, Women in the Workforce and Lisa Glendinning, Young Woman of Distinction. Distinction. Madame Leger was chosen chosen for her work in promoting promoting French culture within the French community in Oshawa. Ms. Diamond was recognized recognized " for her acomplish- ments in the community including including her work with seniors and multiculturism in Oshawa. Ms. Sauriol, honoured for her numerous efforts in promoting promoting equality in both the community ana at work, has been co-ordinator of Employment Employment Equity and Affirmative Affirmative Action at Durham College since 1984. Ms. Sauriol Sauriol has worked hard to ensure ensure that Durham College takes a leading role regarding regarding women's equality. Lastly, for ner academic, athletic and leadership qualities qualities Lisa Glendinning, of Eastdale Collegiate in Oshawa, was chosen as the YWCA's young woman of distinction. Two women from the Newcastle area were nominated nominated for the awards last week: Marianne Zakarow, nominated by the Visual Arts Centre in Bowmanville; and Win Brown, nominated by the Maple Grove Women's Institute. The four women of distinction distinction each received a sib ver pin custom designed by local artist Nancy Steele. Guest speaker of the evening was the well-known Canadian designer Marilyn Brooks. Jason Lange played a great game scoring 3 goals and 3 assists. Other scorers were Niki De- Freitas 2 goals 2 assists, Greg Masterson 1 goal 2 assists, assists, Steve Tabb 1 goal 1 assist, assist, Chris Steele 3 assists , Ryan Jackman and Chris Pot 1 goal each. Then on November 12th Port Perry came to Darlington Darlington and the Toros won 8-2. David Yellowlees and John Marco Cannito were very steady in goal. The defense are playing good, solid hockey. Brent Stockman has added a lot of depth to the defense and is still an. offensive threat.
