Adam and Eve Lose to Bonded Durham Chronicle Earns Advertising Excellence The advertising staff of the Durham College newspaper newspaper "The Chronicle" has captured an award in the annual annual Ontario Community Newspaper Association's advertising advertising excellence competition. competition. This award marks the fifth time in the past six years that the College has won. The Chronicle achieved a second place finish finish in category 8, the division for all college and university newspapers. The award is for general excellence in advertising advertising content and layout. The advertising staff of the Chronicle consists of second second year students in the Advertising Advertising Administration Program of the Applied Arts Division. : Amongst Saturday afternoon's afternoon's Novice hockey action, Adam & Eve hosted Bonded Paving. Adam & Eve came into this game sporting a 1 win 1 loss, 1 tie record, but after a hard fought contest they came out on the short end of a 3-2 score. . : The two teams played scoreless through the first period, but at the 1:20 mark of the second period Guy Tousignant opened the scoring scoring in favour of Bonded Paving Paving on a fine solo effort. Bonded Paving extended that to two goals again on a goal by Guy Tousignant, assisted assisted by Chris Peldiak. Adam & Eve finally got on the scoreboard at the 6:08 mark of the third period with Richard Aasen scoring 1 assisted assisted by Scott MacKay. But as the tide in the game appeared appeared to be turning in favour favour of Adam & Eve, Guy Tousignant completed his hat trick for Bonded's third goal with assists going to Jason Jason Knox and Tyler Cane at 7:20 of the third. The final goal came from Adam & Eve's Scott MacKay at 11:10 of the third, and although although Adam & Eve exerted constant pressure on their opponents in the final moments, moments, they couldn't come up with the needed goal for the tie. Although everyone on the team put in a fine effort special special mention should go to Steve Bosgraaf and Brad Aylsworth who both played excellent games. Keep up the good work gang! A letter requesting the cannons has been sent to Durham's Regional Council by the Foundation, which is responsible for ensuring the restoration of the Halifax Citadel National Historic Park. The foundation's public relations committee chairman, chairman, Dorothy Sutherland, said in a letter to the Durham Region that the return of the cannons would attract national national news coverage. The Region's role in the event will be highly emphasized, she added. She also said a plaque would be mounted at the Regional Regional Headquarters in the place of the cannons. Beef Committee Members Named Seven people have been appointed to a committee which will prepare for a vote on the beef marketing system, system, Ontaio Minister of Agriculture Agriculture and Food Jack Riddell Riddell announced today. The committee was formed in keeping with a recommendation made ■ in the Beef Marketing Task Force Report. The report, released released last month, recommended recommended that Ontario beef producers vote on whether they want a more regulated form of marketing. Dr. Ken McDermid, a former former ministry executive director, director, will be the independent independent chairman of the committee. Other members are Victor Wagemans and Graeme Hedley of the Ontario Ontario Cattlemen's Association, Martin Van Geffen and Carl Spencer of the Ontario Beef Producers for Change , Inc. and Norris Hoag and Ken Knox of the Ministry of Agriculture Agriculture and Food. The minister has also appointed appointed Ken Knox, director of the Farm Products Marketing Marketing Branch, liaison person to the beef vote committee. Riddell has asked the committee to carry out several several duties: to decide who can vote, what question voters voters will be asked, when the vote will be hold and how producers will bo informed about the issues before a vote is held.
