It is my understanding understanding the motive behind such an exercise is to please the children and mostly to lure the buying public into the commercial areas of the town, to expose them to Christmas merchandize that they will hopefully buy. It's a time of good public relations, happy faces and f~ most towns pull together at r this time of year. Most small towns such as ours encompass the entire commercial area, but not Bowmanville. For some reason reason the Santa Claus Parade committee whom they might be,achieved dividing the town's business people.
