SPCBT8 Ontario Hydro Atoms Show Their Skills The Ontario Hydro Atom players continued to show that they're developing into a strong, competitive team when they faced off against T-Mac on Saturday, November November 26. With Jason "the brick wall" Courts in net, Hydro was able to hold T-Mac scoreless for the first period. However, it looked as if no goals were going to be scored by cither team when, with only ten seconds left in this period, Jason Barr drove the puck past T-Mac's goal- tender. ICyle Shacklcton is credited with the assist. Showing that they don't intimidate easily, T-Mac organized organized a strong offence and tied the game midway in the second period. But before this period was over, Jamie Powell and Darryl Cook performed performed their dynamic duo routine in which each scored a goal and assisted on the others! (Which one is Batman?) Batman?) Hydro kept the momentum momentum going and, by the end of the game, scored three more goals. Darryl A & R Floor Squeaks Past Skylight The top two teams in the 'fyke division crossed paths for the first time Saturday with No. 1 A&R Flooring retaining retaining top spot with a 3-2 win over Skylight Donuts. A&R was led by Blake Aylsworth who popped two goals and contributed an assist assist on Stephen Marsh's game winner. A&R was aided by another another solid performance in goal from Robbie Austin. Rob stopped a pair of breakaways breakaways in the final period. Also contributing to the A&R scoring punch were, Fernando Santos and Jamie' McCarthy who assisted on the first two goals. The up and down action kept players from both team benches glued to the game. Some notable performances were charted by Ian Sinclair, David Griffin, Gris Welsh, Deluxe Taxi Beats Oshawa In a week which saw Deluxe Deluxe reach a low point in their scaion with two losses, an 8-0 loss to Albert Street of the OCHL and 5-3 to the BRHL Bantam Selects, Deluxe Deluxe came up with their best effort ci' the season in a 3-1 win oval 1 St. Andrew's of the OCHL Brandon Klawitter, Mike Cyr, Mark Gunter, and Alberto Alberto Santos. Big improvements were shown by Jonathan Hostick and Ryan McNulty. Apart from the scoring, A&R kept up constant pressure pressure in the offensive zone with several close chances. In particular a breakaway by Brandon Klawitter provided provided excitement when his shot was blocked. But the real action took place late in the game after A&R had scored to break the 2-2 tie. A&R's team defence came to the forefront led by goalie Robbie Austin, holding off wave after wave of Skylight attacks. The next game for A&R will be Saturday at 6 p.m. at the new Bowmanville arena. Kool Atoms 66 A" Finalists Cook earned his second "of the game, while Chris Jay and Travis Laughlin accounted accounted for one each. Matt "the Digger" James played his usual enthusiastic, aggressive aggressive game and earned an assist on the last goal. Final Final score was 6-1. While not all Hydro players are mentioned above, it must be stressed that these six goals are the result of visible team effort. All players, whether or not they are directly responsible for putting the puck in the net, look like winners to the spectators. Players who are weak in skill, compensate with their strong efforts and positive attitudes. The team members are a credit to themselves and their coaches coaches who include Rick Powell, Bill Thrasher, Dave Cook and Lloyd Barr. Special thanks go to Terry Branni- gan, the team's financial ad-, visor and management consultant. consultant.
