OBITUARY Katherine Lynn Woods At the age of 35, Katherin Lynn Woods died in Whitby General Hospital on Sunday, November 20, 1988, following following a lengthy illness. Born in Oshawa and educated educated in Maple Grove East Public, and Courtice High Schools, she was the daughter daughter of Abraham and Maxine Sol. She was married July 15, 1978, to Garnet C. Woods. A member of the Salvation Salvation Army Corps, she had been employed at Curvply Wood Products. She resided in Orono at 27 Cobbledick Street. Tne problem was exacerbated by the fact that one of the few remaining remaining processing plants is (or was) out on strike. With exports exports hitting an all time high to Quebec and U.S.A. the possibility of further coun- tervoiling duty on hogs to U.S.A. could loom darkly on the horizon with the resulting resulting price denressant effect. Well, the big Federal election election is over and Brian Mul- roney's Free Trade package was given an unqualified green light. Now the "wait and see" has already begun. By pure coincidence of course 3 companies (now 4) including Gilettes have already already re-located their companies companies back to U.S. and are closing their Canadian plants throwing a number of Canadian employees out of work. Unfortunately many of these employees are at the "dangerous age" between 50 and 65 where their opportunities opportunities in the labour market y oui / The Bowmanville Lions Club would like to thank everyone who supported our Annual Turkey Roll and $1,000.00 DRAW.
